Some ultras I have completed: Frozen Flask Fifty, Flesherton Split Rail 4.9k Sagamok 60k, Damn Tuff Ruff Bluff Run, The Ultimate Runner, Nickel City 50, Central Running Challenge 50k, 9 Slough of Desponds, Around The Bay 60k(2 loops), 31 Miles in August, LaCloche 50k Classic, Vulture Bait, Apple Blossom 60k, and 100 other ultras!

Best Performances: Ganaraska 50k-2000...beating Ron by 2 seconds, Boston '87 - 2:48:50, Winschoten 100k World Challenge-9:15:44, 60 sub 3 hour marathons (45 under 2:50), Beer and Chili Run 2002 (didn't barf)
Ultra achievement I am most proud of: Not getting lost at the 2003 Haliburton 50 mile. Getting Lost at the 1993 Ganaraska 33 mile(6:02:22) and getting a plaque for being 2nd last finisher (11th overall) just ahead of Ed Alexander
Ultras I haven't done but really want to: Frozen Flesh Fifty Across The Owen Sound Bay in February 2005 Damn Tuff Ruff Bluff 100k 2005
Typical training week: "Fat Boys" long run Sundays with the girls and 3 or 4 other not so long runs through the week with my daughter Tracy Greig (future ultrarunner)
Injury history: Every thing from head to toe. Maybe I should buy some new shoes.
Favourite ultra foods: I don't eat while running...bad teeth from drinking too much Guinness, and a tendancy to gag, burp and belch.
Favourite ultra beverages: Mudslides
Things I like most about ultras: The Finish...also - they make me thirsty, and I like the time release of gradual pain. It puts you in a state of pain and discomfort.
Things I hate most about ultras: The Start. Getting locked in the portable shitter when the gun goes off. They take so long to do. The hourly rate of pay for hard labor is below the minimum wage. Precious time away from my grand kids...Shayne(4) and Nicole(2)
What got me started doing ultras: It's my own fault...no one, I mean no one from Owen Sound had an influence on me to run more than a marathon...well...I could put the blame on Ultrarunning magazine.
Why I do ultras: Meet great people, great sense of accomplishment that 99% of the other taxpayers don't and will never experience, replenish my fluids with Mr. Beer product after!
Ultrarunning idols: Odino Soligo, Victor Hickey, Monica Scholz
Favourite ultra quote: "Doug Barber from Owen Sound was running ultras and invited me to a race in Wiarton (Slough '98). After that I was hooked..." -Victor Hickey
Marital Status:  Happily married to Joanne for almost 33 years (my longest ultra)
Greatest Adventure: cracked a rib after falling on wet rocks while running behind scantily clad females.
Advice:  to other ultrarunners in my age group: drop out of a race after the first sign of any discomfort.
