OUSer Bio:
Diane Chesla

Location:  Toronto, ON
E-mail:
Occupation:  Thinker
Height:  5' 2"
Weight:  125 lbs
Birthplace:  Hamilton, ON
Date of birth:  06/03/68
Running since:  grade school
Shoes I run in:  variety of Saucony
Favourite running surface:  Anything with few people, except for other ultra runners.
Some events I have completed: Haliburton 50k, Sulphur Springs 50mile, Dam Tuff 50k, Iroquoia Trail 32k
Personal Bests: Haliburton 50k - 6:44
Best Performance:  Finally! Thanks to an amazing pacer - Gavin - and amazing conversation, I ran a PB at Haliburton.
Ultra achievement: Finally running the "official" course-to-be of Seaton.
Ultra I would like to do but haven't yet: Ultimately, Badwater - however, there is no "ultimate" goal as they constantly transmute after I've reached them. Dreaming keeps me motivated!
Typical training week:  Well, I'm still trying to get the obsessive bugs out  of my system and run every run because I truly enjoy being outside and with other runners. So, 3'ish runs a week, some cross-training and once or twice on weekends.
Injury history:  Plantars Fasciitis and a nagging hip injury that all seem to disappear when I run in a more relaxed and enjoyable style.
Favourite ultra foods:  Anything salty.
Favourite ultra beverages: Sweet, pure H20
Things I like most about ultras:  Incredible, incredible people and the numbing effect on my mind.
Things I hate most about ultras:
Waking up at 5:30 on weekends.
What got me started doing ultras:  Inspired in 1998 during an intimate adventure race down in the States where the winner was a very compassionate female ultra runner who walked all over the course while doubling back to help others.
Ultra heroes:  Absolutely everyone that runs an ultra - in events or training runs.
Ultra quote: "That's a very tough course" (but I hear that about every course!)
How my life has changed since I started running ultras:  I don't care anymore that people think I'm a bit of a nut because I feel like I'm experiencing life through rose-coloured glasses since taking up ultra running.
