Shoes I run in:
Nike Air Structure Triax
Favourite running surface:
Trails (not paced)
Some ultras I have completed: All OUS races, but still have not finished the tough Niagara 100K - 4 trys. JFK 50 Miler
Best performances:
Best performances were all in 1997 when trained extensively for PBs.
Ultra achievements:
Sri Chinmoy 24 Hour in 1998, Haliburton Forest 100 Miler in 2001.
Ultra I would like to do but haven't yet: Would love to run Superior Northshore Trail 50/100 Miles.
Typical training week:
Typically run five days a week. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are 10 to 16 kilometres followed by a long run on Saturday and a 12k recovery run on Sunday.
Injury history:
Minor pulled muscle injuries are infrequent. Worse injury (Plantar Fasciitis) was a result of extensive training in 1997.
Favourite ultra foods:
High protein meals along with carbohydrate stuff.
Favourite ultra beverages: ELoad
Things I like most about ultras:
Although I enjoy training with a group, the thing I like most about ultras is that you can run for hours without seeing another person.  It's just you and our creator.  At ultras, you get to know your fellow runners and there becomes a very close connection with each other.
Things I hate most about ultras:
The one thing that I hate about ultras is that the season seems to end every year.
What got me started doing ultras:
Howard Parker got me started in running in 1990.  I enjoyed running a lot and 5k runs were over too quick, so why not run further?  I remember Howard saying that a 50k ultra was ONLY 8k more than a marathon.  Obviously, it didn't stop there.
Ultra hero:
Too many to mention.  Anyone that gets out there to do it.
Favourite Ultra Quote:
Gotta Run!
