Ultra Achievement:
3rd unsupported finisher all-time in the Grand Union Canal 145 Mile Race Birmingham to London 1998 -- one of only two unsupported double-finishers all-time in the same event (1998 & 2000)
Typical training week: Often nothing - just one or two marathons/ultras on a weekend, but now (with the Virtual Races Across Ontario and Around Australia) 16 K on Wednesday and 6-10 K on the other days.
Injury history:
Nothing serious.
Favourite ultra foods: Hot soup, cake.

Things I like most about ultras: The atmosphere and the friendship among the runners, running often more together than against each other. The respect shown for other runner's results. To challenge my limits.
Things I hate most about ultras: Should I hate something?
What got me started on ultras: Just to prove how it feels running more than marathons.
Ultras I would like to do: Hardrock, Rocky Racoon, Badwater, Spartathlon (Greece), West Highland Way Race (Scotland), Spreelauf (Germany), Pieter-ROG-pad (Netherlands), SCMT 6-day-race NY
Ultra Heroes: Nobody - Honour for everybody because everybody is a winner.
Ultra Quotation:
Not being crazy is also not normal. (Gar nicht verrückt, ist auch nicht normal!)
O
ther comments: I am Vice-chairman, statistician & RD of the "100 Marathon Club Germany" -- 450 marathons/ultras from April 1987 to April 2000 -- 35 marathons/ultras (29 marathons, 3 50 K, 2 60 K & 1 100 K) with a stroller with my daughter Jana 1992-1995.
Recently finished the 1st marathon ever run in a mine: the 100 year old salt mine in Sondershausen (GER), 700 m under the surface and 500 m under sea level which means that this is the deepest (previously the Elbtunnel-Marathon in Hamburg/GER whose RD Christian is) and the lowest (previously the Dead Sea Marathon in Jordan) marathon in the world . The conditions: 27-31°C. 30-40% humidity, about 720 metres climb and descent, often steep and slippery; result: 23rd place, 5:08:46 h.
