Longest is Sunshine Coast Trail (180K with an extra 20 or so for getting lost) followed by Western States 100-miler. Most fun was the Forbidden Forest Run or the Sunshine Coast Trail 100. Best food at the Sri Chinmoy events. Best beer at Swiss Alpine Marathon. Best value at Club Fat Ass events. Most smokers at the 100K world Championships in Holland. Best bud at the Ultraman triathlon in Hawaii. Shoes I run in: Montrail (they sponsor me), Asics, Nike Favourite running surface: all Ultra achievement: Running the Sunshine Coast Trail. Got rescued before I had to spend a night in the boonies under a space blanket with Dom Repta in 2003. No rescue in 2004, so had to spend a few tender moments under a space blanket between Gary Robbins and Mark Fearman. A 2 hour run on the weekend. (Unless it is raining, in which case I take the week off.) Injury history: Bag of hurt: Hit by cars on bike. Died once (really!) in a marathon. Nose stomped and kicked in soccer, football. Multiple stress fractures from wearing my shoes more than 10,000km. Ripped and torn cartilage, muscles and ligaments. Knife wounds and other punctures. Fallen arches, black toenails, patella femoral challenges. Medial collateral ligament strain from the time I hucked off a 25m cliff while skiing. Ring of fire from homegrown habaneros. Anemia. Worms and gastrointestinal distress from drinking stream water on long trail runs... Favourite ultra foods: beef jerky, tapioca pudding, hamburgers, beer Favourite ultra beverages: water and beer Things I like most about ultras: Camaraderie. Being outdoors.
