Shoes I run in:  Nike Free 6½
Favourite running surface:  anything flat and dry...I'm a wimp!
Some ultras I have completed: Conquer the Canuck 2004 and 2005,  Ganaraska 50k 2005, Toronto 100k 2005, Damn Tuff Ruff Bluff 50k 2005,  Iroquoia Trail Test 2005, Sri Chinmoy 24hr Self-transcendence 2005,  Seaton Trail 50k 2005, Vulture Bait 50k 2005, Toronto Ultra 50k 2006,  Kingston 6hr Self-Transcendence 2006, Levis 100k 2006, Ottawa 24hr Self-Transcendence 2006.
Best performances/PRs: Toronto 100k 2005 in 10:22:14; Kingston 6hr 2006 - 65kms.
Ultra achievements most proud of:  Toronto 100k 2005, Conquer the Canuck 2005, Kingston 6hr 2006, Levis 100k 2006.
Ultra I would like to do but haven't yet: Maybe a 100-miler one day…MAYBE!!!
Typical training week: Winter: I give my joints a rest. Weight training twice a week, cardio twice a week on a loathsome treadmill or elyptical machine. Summer / Spring / Fall: Weight training once or twice a week, run outdoors 3 to 5 times per week.
Injury history:  I strained my left piriformis pretty badly doing the toronto 100k, then really messed it up by attempting 100 miles at Sulphur Springs even though I was still limping...what a dumb-dumb.
Favourite ultra foods:  Raisins and raw almonds.
Favourite ultra beverages: Gatorade, any flavour.
Things I like most about ultras and trail running: Feeling my muscles ache, feeling alive, zoning out, feeling like I cannot carry on and then doing it anyway, the sense of accomplishment, the look on non-ultra-runners' faces when I tell them about it, appreciating that I’m able to do it.
Things I hate most about ultras and trail running:
Winter running, stream-crossings, invisible ankle-threatening rocks, getting lost, having to stare at the ground the whole time during trail runs to navigate your footing.
What got me started doing ultras:  I ran my very first marathon near the end of 2003. I then decided to run a marathon every month in 2004 but could not find any locally for July and August. Then on www.eventsonline.ca I saw this DISGUSTING event called Conquer the Canuck: 50k on July 31st and 42.2k on August 1st. My head popped off and I registered immediately.
Running heroes:  Joan Benoit-Samuelson, Mizuki Noguchi, Paula Radcliffe, Laurie McGrath, Sandi Stiel
Ultra quote: The biggest thing that running has taught me: Achieving your goals is at least 51% mental!
