Years running:  15
Years running ultras:
 1
PRs:  42.2K - 5:47 ( with a torn meniscus; my only marathon ); 21.1K - 2:05; 10K - 52:03; 5K - 24:14.
Shoes I run in:  New Balance 715
Favourite running surface:  cross-country
Some ultras I have completed:  Sri Chinmoy 6-hour Ultra, Kingston, 2003
Best performances:
Completing 2 races in 2 provinces on the same day in 1999 - the TIP Half-Marathon in Mallorytown, ON, followed by La Grande Course De Montreal 10K that evening!
Ultra achievements:  During the Sri Chinmoy 6-hour Ultra in Kingston, 2003, I dropped after each 1K loop and did as many pushups as I'd done kilometres - i.e., after 1K I did 1 pushup, after 2K I did 2 pushups, etc., for a grand total of 40.02K and 825 pushups ( the last few pushups were thrown in for kicks during the awards ceremony )! Frankly, I was a little disappointed that I didn't get more recognition from the race organizers for that :(
Ultra I would like to do but haven't yet: Haliburton Forest 100 Miler
Typical training week:  Muay Thai 5 times a week, weight training 5 times a week, Jiu-Jitsu twice a week - I only run during races!
Injury history:  Other then tearing my meniscus during the 2000 National Capital Marathon, all of my injuries have been martial arts-related.
Favourite ultra foods:  During a race? Chocolate chip cookies and chips, baby!
Favourite ultra beverages: As much Gatorade as I can handle!
Things I like most about ultras:  The camaraderie, and the sense of exceeding one's own physical bounds.
Things I hate most about ultras:
 Nothing! They're great!
What got me started doing ultras:  My own personal conviction to be the best athlete I can be, in every area of expertise.
Ultra hero:  Terry Fox
Ultra quote: "It doesn't matter, I've got another!"  -my own response to a white-faced National Capital Marathon volunteer, who felt I should stop running if my left knee was hurt :)
Other comments: Just remember how much fun this is. I'm used to competing in a full-contact ring, where there's none of the camaraderie that exists between fellow runners. It's a lovely sport, cherish it!
